Tonight, No. 2 Notre Dame visits No. 8 BYU at 6:30pm CT on ABC, the first top-10 game ever in Provo. It is the kind of night that makes college football special, and it is exactly why every Saturday matters.
Games like this are why the regular season matters: every result carries real weight. Every snap, every possession and every decision is magnified because the outcome counts. Under a proposed 24-team playoff, the loser would barely feel it. A game that should be enormous would become little more than a speed bump on the way to the postseason.
